A Cavalcade of OTHER Animated Features

We write a lot about Disney animated features, DreamWorks features, and Pixar features. But there's a goodly amount of theatrical product Kevin and I haven't mentioned... Here is at least some of it, as detailed in The Hollywood Reporter and elsewhere (some of these films have been in production awhile): Lions Gate Family Entertainment and Threshold Entertainment are producing a picture entitled "Foodfight!" featuring the vocal talents of Charlie Sheen, Christopher Lloyd and Wayne Brady among others. It's being animated in L.A. "The Magistical" is being made in Winston-Salem, North Carolina by Out of Our Minds Animation Studios. "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - CG" - This film is being made in L.A. and Hong Kong, and distributed by Warner Bros. and the Weinstein Co. "Everybody's Hero" (a.k.a. "Yankee Irving") - This one has some higher-powered vocal talent, including Whoopi Goldberg, Rob Reiner, Mandy Patinkin, William H. Macy, Dana Reeve and Robert Wagner. Christopher Reeve was directing the flick via teleconferencing a couple of years back, but Dan St. Pierre and Colin Brady have carried on since Reeve's 2004 death. It's being made by IDT Entertainment in its Toronto CG animation studio, set for a late-summer or Fall release. "Where the Wild Things Are" - This Maurice Sendak book has been in work for a while. A few years back it was being developed by Tom Hanks' Playtone Pictures over at Universal. Now however, it's under the Warner Bros. umbrella. A live-action/animation hybrid, principal photography began last month in Los Angeles. (Playtone's still got it.) And lastly, "Arthur and the Minimoys," based on the book by Luc Besson, who's also directing, writing and producing. (This is a co-production of EuropaCorp and The Weinstein Co., headquartered in Paris.)
